I feel like we should begin by reading as a group “The Chosen” by Chaim Potok.

    Then “The Promise” (same author).

Then perhaps record a series of book club discussions — perhaps even for podcast redistribution.

I am desperate to know if ya’ll see the same magic (and answers) in the book as I do about staying.

    Any takers?

It’s in my stack of “Books waiting to be read.” I’ll need a due date in order to actually get it read. A month out? Nov. 30? I’m just throwing things out.

Okay the library has The Chosen and I just put it on hold but they don’t have the Promise so that will have to be a Borders trip!

    Jeremi,

You can borrow our copy of The Promise. No worries.

I’m in for The Chosen. Don’t know if I can find my high school copy (I think my brothers earased part of the title on my copy so that is says “The Hoser,” so maybe it’s time for a new copy). I think this is a great idea, and I would love the discussion. Never read The Promise.

Read them both. They were very popular at BYU when I was there for some reason, even among the most orthodox. That may be a good sign for a practical start to our venture.

I picked The Chosen for book club in the ward when it is my turn to host so I’m in.

Haven’t read “The Chosen” since high school. I remembered enjoying it a lot.

Just put a hold on it through the SL County Library system, should have it by Sat. They also have an audiobook copy which I also put on hold.
