Introduction & HistoryTell my about your life story.
Did you grow up in the Church or are you a convert?
Was your family active in the Church?
What was your family like?
Were you involved in Church as a youth?
Did you serve a mission?
Did you get married in the temple?
What was your personal conversion like? Tell me about your original attachment to the Church (Even members born into the Church have to go through a conversion process).
Did you have any special moments or spiritual experiences you would be comfortable sharing with others?
Crisis of FaithHow did you start to question your faith?
What were the circumstances that lead to this?
What was going on in your life?
What were the really hard issues for you?
How did you feel going through this process?
How did your family and friends react to the change?
Did anyone know what you were going through?
Did you seek people out for help? How did that work, or not work out?
ReconciliationWhy do you stay in the Church?
What ideas, practices or people helped you AFTER your crisis to turn toward embracing the church again? (ask more than once)
What are the easy topics for you to deal with, these might be challenging to others? Why are these easier for you?
What are the hard topics for you to deal with still? Why?
What do you think the Church is really good at?
What do you wish the Church did different?
What do you think about the statement “The Church is true?” What does that mean to you now?
Are you sure of your beliefs now? How has certainty or uncertainty changed your faith? Do you feel like you care more about your faith or less than others?
What is God to you? Describe how you see this relationship now.
Who is Christ to you? Describe how you see this relationship now.
How do you view the scriptures now? How has this changed over time?
What is the meaning and purpose of life, based on your new perspective?
How do you view the afterlife now?
What do you think of the temple now?
Do you feel that your current views are honest? Some feel like they have to tell everyone about their doubts and struggles. Do you wrestle with that?
What is your experience at Church like now from your changed perspective? What do you hear and see when you are at Church now?
What are some things that other members do that irritate you? How do you deal with those?
Has anyone ever been unkind or insensitive to you about your doubts? If so, how have you dealt with that? How do people in your ward treat you?
Do you still feel angry, frustrated, or other negative emotions at times?
What are the positive aspects of your faith now? What are you excited about?
Looking back now, do you think this has all been for the good? Would you not have taken this journey or changed anything if you could?
