    Hi everyone,

I was born and raised in the church. In my teens I went through a period of time where I wasn’t very active. But, then I went to college and had wonderful LDS roommates who changed my view of the church. I waited for a missionary and married him a few months after he got home. We have been very active since then. Looking back I realize that I started to drift away from a literal view of many gospel principles in college, it was such a slow transition that I didn’t even realize that I didn’t quite believe the way most other people believed. For most of my adult life I have been very comfortable at church. A few months ago I realized that I really didn’t know much about church history. The FLDS were in the news and I realized that I really didn’t know what Joseph Smith taught about polygamy so I started to research it. As I studied I realized that Joseph Smith did not fit into the idea of what I thought a prophet was. This caused my world to come crashing down. I have slowly been picking up the pieces these last few months. I have enjoyed reading the discussion so far and look forward to sharing with all of you in the journey.

    Hi Emma,

Welcome to the site. Thanks for sharing your story. Its good to hear how other people have gone through changes. Hearing a lot of this stuff for the first time is an interesting challenge. I look forward to hearing more of your views.
