GuestHi, My wife Patti and I are inactive members of the church. We were anchored in Pago Pago Harbor in our sailboat after leaving Los Angeles in 2006. We spent 2 years in Mexico before heading to the South Pacific. I can assure you we get close to our Father In Heaven while we are at sea in our little boat. Though we are inactive in the church we are active in our study of the scriptures. We have put our boat on the hard and returned to the Los Angeles area to be with Patti’s parents during their last days.
We were converts to the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints in 1982 in our late 20’s. We grew up in Southern California. We look forward to the return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
I am happy to find you all and this website, please bear with me as I learn how to use it.

GuestWelcome, Rod. Living at sea sounds wonderful – if it weren’t at sea but on a beautiful island.

GuestThank you Ray. We actually prefer the islands to being at sea too. Sailing 2600 miles with no land in sight was certainly an experience, we were so happy to be in the Marquesas Islands we didn’t want to leave. Having only a 90 day visa keeps you moving but the distance between islands got shorter and shorter until the run from Bora Bora to American Samoa, which was 1100 miles. FYI we average about 100 miles per day. We spent 5 months in Pago Pago before leaving.

GuestWelcome here. Do you move under power of wind or dinosaur fuel? March 9, 2009 at 3:50 pm #215921Anonymous
GuestWow. Cool life there for a couple of years, sailing the seas. Sorry to hear about your in-laws/parents. Welcome to the StayLDS boards. March 9, 2009 at 4:34 pm #215922Anonymous
GuestThank you all for the welcome. We are definetly a sailboat, it has a 30 hp engine but we use it to charge our batteries. We also have a solar panel and a wind generator which supplies most of our power needs. We do have a motoring range of about 500 miles but we prefer to sail, it’s much more quiet, the ride is better and we save our fuel for emergencies. We also have a watermaker the makes fresh water from saltwater, it only makes a gallon per hour but it will run off the wind generator in the tradewinds. Rod

GuestWow – that is a fantasy of mine! I absolutely love to be on the ocean, and I’m a huge fan of tall ships. March 9, 2009 at 7:22 pm #215924Anonymous
