Mormon Heretic

I was invited here by Ray and Faithful Dissident–two internet buddies who have become dear friends even though we’ve never personally met. Thanks FD for posting links to my site!!!

By way of introduction, I’ll post my philosophy from my blog:

I am active in the LDS church. This is a place to talk about the “meat” of the gospel and not just the “milk.” I want to be able to ask thoughtful (some might say provocative) questions, and not worry about damaging someone else’s faith or testimony. I certainly don’t have all the answers, and welcome those of you who can fill in some answers for me regardless of your religious affiliation. This [forum] will hopefully be a thoughtful and respectful forum.

While I’m an active membership clerk in my ward, I usually keep my opinions to myself at church. My blog is my outlet for my real thoughts, as I have a more liberal interpretation of the scriptures, than your typical TBM. I’ll refer to Nephi, Joshua, and Brigham Young as racists, and I have some real problems with polygamy, but have also orthodox posts on topics comparing the Greek Orthodox beliefs of deification to Mormon exaltation. I did a post Debunking the Spaulding Theory of Book of Mormon authorship, and love to examine various archaeological theories on the Book of Mormon. So, you’ll find me a liberal conservative, or conservative liberal. I’m usually too liberal for conservatives, but too conservative for liberals, so I would probably be considered an active fence sitter.
