GuestSincere question: Did my comment really sound like I was dissing non-Mormons and denigrating God? Sometimes I get blind to how my own words come across, as much as I try to be careful, and I really do want to know if that one came out differently than I intended it.
Perhaps in the end, she simply didn’t understand what I meant by “theology” – but I really do want to know.

GuestWow, she really came off the hook there. I totally get what you are saying. I’m sure you know I see the theology that way as well. I’ve talked elsewhere on several occasions about the difference between being “God’s pets” and “God’s children.” At the end of the day, I believe she’s hyper-sensitive to criticism because she has left Mormonism for another church, and you are basically pointing out that it was a downgrade (her view). Maybe you should point out some of the ways other forms of Christian worship are more effective than ours (e.g. diversity of music, more ritualistic approach, the ambiance in Cathedrals vs. ward buildings) and how attending someone else’s worship service is an excellent way to “shake up” our own worship and get a fresh outlook that brings us closer to God. I was very moved by attending Evensong at Westminster Abbey at Christmas time last year. I think it was just that it was so different from our service (also it was like 30 mins – hallelujah!). However, as they asked everyone to recite the Anglican creed, I looked at the words and I was like “you gotta be freakin’ kiddin’ me.” June 22, 2009 at 1:02 pm #218136Anonymous
GuestI recommend ignoring her. Don’t give her a platform and the spotlight. She is a drama llama. Maybe she is catching too much heat at NOM again and looking for someone else to listen to her for a little bit? June 22, 2009 at 6:25 pm #218134Anonymous
GuestShe is getting out of control. I edited and moderated some of her posts. The long lists were out of control. If she continues, I will issue a ban for a week. I don’t want her derailing things or pulling everyone into her 3-ring drama circus. I also sent a PM to her and copied the Administrators.
Here is the text:
Hello again Lady Wisdom,
I edited and moderated some of your recent posts in the “Love of God” thread. Please don’t post long lists of scriptures or lengthy sermons. Also, please help keep the discussions on topic. Lastly, try to spend more time gathering understanding. It is easy to get offended in an online discussion without additional information such as tone of voice and gestures we depend on in face-to-face conversations.
Thanks. I appreciate your help in keeping things on track in the forums.

GuestMaybe I’m just being cranky, but I really don’t like Lady Wisdom coming here and doing nothing but post refried, tired, anti-Mormon repsonses to Mormon beliefs. Her link to the “Ye are gods” passage is classic – and hinges totally on an interpretation that is every bit as subjective as what it tries to refute. I am not the right person, but will somebody please ask her to stop posting just to argue and refute Mormonism – or ban her temporarily?

GuestHawk PM’d: “Should we cut her loose? She contributes nothing positive to the discussion and continuously derails us, which is why I just completely ignore her. One thing I like about the site is that these conversations are available for lurkers and for the future. If her stuff were gone, the conversations would be all the better for the loss. I wish we had a “cave troll” option for her that would result in her being ignored but not knowing why no one was engaging with her. Then she would attrite naturally, and no one else would see her input.”
Very good point. We have to remember that the main mission of the site is to pull together information about how to stay LDS. Like Hawk pointed out, we have a lot of lurkers. The point of making this site public (as opposed to a place like OpenMormon), is to allow a wide audience to lurk and benefit.
I can agree with cutting Lady Wisdom loose on the grounds that she has consistently demonstrated that her content (posts) do not further the mission of the forum.
I am all for giving people chances and helping to coach them. We’ve tried helping her here already. I’ve known Lady Wisdom (aka Marek from NOM) for a year or more. She causes trouble everywhere I have seen her participate (even at NOM). I don’t expect her to change much in the near future.

GuestI’ll leave that in your hands, valoel, since she knows you better and would think it was just me if I were involved in any way. June 24, 2009 at 4:57 am #218139Anonymous
GuestAny dissention? Orson? Anyone else? June 24, 2009 at 5:34 pm #218140Anonymous
GuestI have a few free minutes now. I’ll take care of writing a note of explanation to Lady Wisdom and cutting her off. I will ban her account by email. Note sent from my email account:
Hi LadyWisdom,
I wanted to take some time to let you know about your account being blocked at the StayLDS forums. The group of moderators and admins for the site decided together that you are not at a point right now where you are contributing effectively in building discussion content at the site. We are open to conversations involving controversy and other such tough topics that need to be dealt with, but our site is more limited in it’s focus and mission than other sites (like NOM, FLAK or other such sites).
Our site’s mission is to build and gather materials for reconciliation and building faith within the framework of the LDS church, after the process of disaffection has mostly run it’s course. There aren’t as many participants as other sites, but we are collecting conversation and dialogue for a large number of “lurkers” who just come to the site to read the content. To that end, we try to focus closely on our mission. We sometimes have to edit or moderate content to fit the goal. Too much of that has been done lately on your posts, which included lengthy quotes and sermon-like material re-posted in the conversations.
I wanted to let you know it isn’t anything personal. But we do keep control and manage the content. I personally wish you the best. I know you from other sites, and hope you can find another outlet to express yourself in your faith journey.
Best Regards,
Valoel (Site Admin and Moderator)

GuestVery well worded. Thanks. July 30, 2009 at 9:39 pm #218142Anonymous
GuestGosh darn it!!!!! Who left the back door unlocked???? Lady Wisdom somehow got back in the building… 😆 Maybe she got unbanned by hiding in the crowd of new people going through the checkpoints.
Let’s see how she does. She hasn’t fired up the cut & paste quote engine yet.

GuestMy thoughts exactly. At first I was going to ban again immediately, but I figured – let’s wait and see. She was close to the edge in one comment, but she backed away, so . . . -
