Welcome, catamount. There are many different voices on this site and I am sure you will fit right in. Don’t be discouraged if your DW doesn’t share your beliefs. Just love her and respect her beliefs and hopefully she will be able to do the same for you. I am so glad you have found some peace.

    Hi Catamount,

If the only thing you learn from this site is that there are many ways to believe in God, it will give you hope and comfort that you are not alone. I think most of us have had dramatic and strong spiritual experiences, and they are personal and sacred. What they mean to one may be different for another, and I think a great place to get to is lack of judgment of their experiences. I think “God” gives experiences to each of us uniquely. Find the parts of the church that work for you…and let the rest bounce off.

    Good luck on your journey!

Welcome. We vary quite radically here in how others who know us classify us, but we share much – and what we share is as important as our uniqueness. At the very least, we understand that not all members are the same – that the orchestra needs all the instruments, as Elder Wirthlin said so beautifully.

Welcome. I struggle with some of things too. You are in good company. I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

A late welcome. Yes, this is a place where we do recognize your individual path and concerns are valid and deeply conscientious.

Catamount, I feel very similar about the church as you do, and have blogged about many of the topics you mentioned. I have found a camaraderie on the internet, so I don’t really feel a need to share this stuff with people at church or my wife who are much more comfortable not knowing the stuff I know. I’ve made some great friends here. In spite of some of my unorthodox beliefs, I feel much spiritually stronger now than I have in years.

If there is one thing I’ve learned about being a member of the Church, it’s that we all go through our own personal journey. There will be times when we feel so strongly about our testimony, and there will also be times when we struggle through seasons of doubt. I have seen a lot of things in the Church that seemingly don’t make sense, but I try to plod on despite the doubt, since I feel that somewhere along the road, we will find the answers–not all the answers to all my questions, but at least those that gives me the strength to keep plodding on.

What’s important too is to make sure we know what we really want in making this journey. What do we really want to see at the end of the road?

Welcome, welcome catamount!! Home is what you make it! Can’t wait to hear more from you. Sounds like you’ve been checking around alot, I think Mormon Heretics’ situation is similar to yours and his views on everything are great! Read some of his posts if you haven’t already.

    Well said, Handel.

Congratulations catamount on continuing to try and keep moving forward despite doubts. The journey is more important than where you are starting from. Welcome to the group.
