Sacrament meeting was pretty good for me yesterday. One lady gave a very good talk and I wanted to share a piece. She said:

hereI then used this talk, along with the quote from sacrament meeting for my home teaching lesson that night. It went very well, and we even extended the concept to not excluding those within the church who don’t always do/believe what we do/believe. And to top it all off the husband of the family I hometeach said he had been thinking about that talk (the one by E. Ballard) recently and that I must have been inspired!
Thanks for that! I definitely side with the “inclusionary” gospel! It only fits with the model that we are ALL God’s children. We won’t all agree (11th article of faith) but we should be able to agree on practicing love. As far as the hope for you… Uh… I’ll have to get back to you on that.
I posted on this a while back on Mormon Matters about people’s orientation toward inclusion or exclusivity. Those who are oriented toward exclusivity are more interested in adding to the cachet of Mormonism and less focused on the casualties (the exclusion of the undesirables). Exclusivity is a “premiumization” concept (marketing term) to add value to something by making it appeal to the best rather than having broad-based appeal.
