GuestFwiw, I have been concerned about godlives ever since he started posting here. If you remember, he posted a couple of things that were wandering, scattergun posts early on – which we had to edit to make them fit the purpose of the forum. I can’t shake the feeling that there is something “off” when he posts. I don’t know what it is, exactly, but it’s like there are too many issues in everything he posts for comments to address them properly – and that perhaps that’s intentional. I’m not convinced of this, but it’s been a nagging concern for some time.
The thing that strikes me most about this post is that we have had more than one discussion here about NDE’s – and there was no hint of his wife’s experience from him on those threads.
I’m not sure I trust him – and I just want to ask everyone to read carefully and see if you feel there’s any chance to steer the discussion in ways that will be productive. We have to honor people’s real experiences, and I hope these are real that he is sharing, but we also have to stay true to the mission of the site – which is to help people stay LDS. It’s a tricky balancing act, and I’m just asking that we approach godlives’ posts even more carefully than normal.

GuestWill do Ray. It could also be that he just isn’t a very organized writer and thinker. I am not saying that to put him down, just that quite a lot of people are not used to the art of writing with the goal of producing a discussion or making a compact and succinct point. My impression has been that godlives is really deep in the struggle still. He isn’t at a comfortable point of reconciliation.
If he is a troll, he’s very very sophisticated IMO. I feel a little off too when he posts. But that is why it is great to have mature and diverse moderation here at the site. We all see things the others might not.

GuestI need to clarify something. My primary concern is not that I think godlives is a troll or that he is lying. I don’t believe that, but I keep it filed away at the back of my mind as a possibility. My main concern is that I don’t want him to start dominating the forum with multiple posts, each one of which is a scatter-gun compilation of multiple issues and experiences. I’m concerned that we not become a dumping ground of torrents of issues, even though I understand completely that some people need to release the floodgates. I saw that the last time he started posting regularly, and I’m seeing it again now – almost daily posts that each have too many internal issues to address in a meaningful way (other than to say, “I understand.”)
It’s a fine line, so I just want to ask everyone to be aware of it – and perhaps see if someone feels comfortable carrying on a private conversation with him about how to focus his posts and be more issue precise.
