GuestThis is a psalm which is only to be found in Orthodox Bibles. It is not accepted by Protestants, RCs or Jews. You won’t find it in LDS Bibles.
It is sometimes included in the Apocrypha. It was previously only known from Greek, but the Hebrew has been found now.

This Psalm is ascribed to David and is outside the number. When he slew Goliath in single combat.
[This Title is given in the Septuagint]
My hands made a harp, my fingers fashioned a lyre.
And who will declare it to my Lord? The Lord himself; it is he who hears.
It was he who sent his messenger and took me from my father’s sheep, and anointed me with his anointing oil.
My brothers were handsome and tall, but the Lord was not pleased with them.
I went out to meet the Philistine, and he cursed me by his idols.
But I drew his own sword; I beheaded him, and removed reproach from the people of Israel.

GuestThanks for sharing that. My kids have the “Liken” DVD/production of David & Golioth & love it…or did for a while. My son used to take all of my husband’s long socks, put a ball in the bottom & swing it around (like a sling shot), singing the songs of David.
They also have a DVD called, “Junior’s Giants – Anger everywhere” in which the church teacher explains how, like David, we all have giants to overcome in our own lives. I think essentially, Goliath represents our ego…or the “flesh of man” (which we’re advised to not trust in) & David represents the child of God or spirit within us. Maybe this is something that everyone’s known for a while & I think I understood it on a certain level before, but it just now really hit me how personal this story is.
