Last night I had a dream that I wanted to share with you and ask you for your ideas on how I might interpret it.

I have some ideas but I thought some of you might have had similar experiences as you’ve been on this journey.

My dream began with my husband and I sitting in our living

room and suddenly the drywall began to fall from the

ceiling. I went into another room and that ceiling had

completely fallen down. As I moved through the house, I

saw wet drywall hanging from the walls and the floorboards

    were coming up.

Then, the house filled with workers that started cleaning

up and putting down temporary floor boards so that they

could begin to repair the drywall and redo the house.

I found myself looking for necessary items to take out of

the house. I worried about where we were going to live

while the repairs took place. I found that all the

necessary items had been removed by my husband and all I

needed to do was get myself out.

I spoke to our insurance agent on the way out and he

said, “I’ve seen jobs like this take months”. Then I woke

    up.

So, my interpretation of this dream is that my life is

getting a remodel. And I will have a lot of help with

that job. It will be a messy and long process but I will

again have a beautiful and strong life. I’m hopeful

because it seems that the foundation and even the framing

    is in good condition.

So any thoughts you could provide would be helpful.

    Sincerely,

    Canadiangirl

Sounds like you have already done a fantastic job of interpreting this dream for yourself. I might add that unlike many who would try to remain within the walls of the house as everything was crashing down and caving in around them…. I love that you and your husband had recognized that everything you really needed was safe and you were able to step outside to the great unknown while the remodeling was taking place.

Awesome dream! Good luck with the remodel! (Mine is taking longer than I had anticipated.;) )

    I agree.

I would add that for me, water usually symbolizes the Spirit. The workers are the influences, people, stories, words, books and other influential inputs to your soul that are doing the ‘work’ of restoration. The insurance adjuster symbolizes the ‘authorized’, ‘appropriate’ means of restoring that which was damaged.

    But that’s just me.

Can I ask the obvious here? Are you having any problems with your house or know anyone who is? I have had these types of dreams based partly on real experience.

But otherwise, you’ve interpreted your dream much as I would. I always see dreams about rooms and floors to be about things in the recesses of my mind/memory.

This part struck me. Sometimes a crisis creates the need to prioritize and make sure you protect the most important things, and it makes you let go of the other things you may like, but don’t “need”.

Similar to the other thread we started talking about simplifying the church…sometimes our testimonies need to be simplified…and really identify those things that are critical, and allow yourself to let go of the rest.

That is one way to look at being a cafeteria mormon…not as a choosy or picky or lazy faith but as a focused faith.

Thanks for sharing…I think there is good remodeling and rebuilding work going on!

Many many years ago I did some personal research about dreams. FWIW, most “experts” disagree entirely with each other about the meaning of dreams with one exception; one unifying object that most of these researchers I read about agree on is that dreams about “houses” and about one’s “home structure” are dealing with a persons feeling of emotion security. In dreamology, houses are representative of ones spiritual and emotional state of well being. I know this and remember it because I was having dreams myself about “homes”, physical homes, and I was disturbed by it and looked for help on what might be going on in my sub-conscience mind.

I can’t remember the source off hand, but I will find it. I don’t know if I believe it necessarily. I don’t know if anybody can interpret another persons dream (regardless of what the bible says about Joseph in the Egypt prison with the baker and candlestick-maker or whatever) or if I would want someone to try to interpret my dreams. I think dreams are very personal, and can tell a person a tremendous amount about themselves, and about what is going on inside one’s own sub-conscience psyche.

So, I don’t know you, but I think you’re personal interpretation of the house would fit the little I do know about dreamology. Most people that I know would never even think twice about such a thing. I’m glad you didn’t just ignore “the spirit” as it -IMO -is trying to lead you in your spiritual journey.

Thank you for all of the great thoughts. The thought that water might represent the spirit is very interesting to me. To me dream analysis is fun and usually it doesn’t matter what the experts say, just how an individual uses the dream to work through their personal issues. I also like outside perspectives which is why I posted it here. Thanks again for the responses. Oh and no my real house isn’t falling apart, well not really. It needs a little work but not the disasterous kind. LOL!!
