GuestThe Chinese have a curse, “may you live in interesting times”. Sometimes I wonder if I’m living in a bad science fiction novel. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/08/11/world/asia/11iht-clone.2.15173735.html?_r=1 August 19, 2010 at 11:30 pm #234134Anonymous

GuestI read the history on this one. The woman is definitely an operator — with all the lying and skipping bail she did to get away from her charges against the manacled Mormon missionary. I question whether the missionary in this case was actually guilt-free however. It does seem a bit incredulous that he would be snatched away from his companion, taken to a remote place, somehow manacled to a bed, and then forced to have intercourse. But who knows. However, the tale is a bit like points in religious history — we will never know because we weren’t there — or, should I pray to know the truthfulness of this story? Just kidding….

GuestCloned pets? I always wonder why bother. There are plenty of rescue dogs and breeders out there without having to go to the massive expense of getting a dog who may turn out differently. Anyway, I digress. this gives a different angle to the story –
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mormon_sex_in_chains_case I think the simple answer of why he may have gone off with her is because he knew her, and she probably said something like “you’ve got to come with me something really important’s happened”.

GuestQuote:He also claimed to have been wearing some kind of Mormon chastity belt underneath.
Presumably this is a reference to temple garments by someone who doesn’t know what they’re talking about.

I thought it was funny how the article says that at the time of the kidnapping, many men were jealous of the missionary’ plight! Think about it if you had no commitment to chastity or religious values — taken away by a beauty queen to a remote place and forced to by intimate for 3 days. No wonder the courts in UK lost interest in the case!

GuestIt’s a bizarre enough story on its own, but the postscript about getting her dog (pitbull no less!) cloned from ear cells is even more odd. How can anyone like pitbulls? I’m sorry if I’m offending anyone here, but I can’t see it myself. Always thought of them as being ugly dogs with unstable temperaments.

I won’t rent to people who have pitbulls. Most insurance companies don’t cover liability suits caused by such animals either…
