I’ve been having some really cool chats with a guy working on his PhD in religion and history of the Bible from UNC Chapel Hill. He’s active LDS, and very solid Stage 5-ish. His adviser is actually Bart Ehrman, the author of some books we discuss here (Jesus Interrupted, Misquoting Jesus, etc.).

He just registered as “Enoch” on our forums. I am really psyched! He seems interested in getting involved in what we do here. FWIW, his real name is Jared Anderson. I don’t think he would mind you guys knowing that, but we should probably keep it among mod/admins unless Jared says otherwise.

Wanted to let you know who the new “Enoch” character is, if he starts posting in the forums.

That’s pretty dang cool. I’m a big Bart Ehrmann fan, and I look forward to Enoch’s posts.

I think I know Jared from other sites in the Bloggernacle. (and, no, he’s not THAT Jared . . . :P ) I’m exicted he’s here.

Cool! I knew a Jared Anderson when I was a kid, most likely not the same person — I can’t imagine him that interested in religion or history.

Wow…I really like his post: Impossible to accept both historical evidence and orthodoxy

He seems pretty positive still about keeping faith and believing, despite his vast knowledge of history and LDS theology.

I was just having a debate with my brother about this very topic this week…Enoch said it way better than I did.

    This guy is smart!
