GuestI think Hawkgrrrl asked about stats. I stopped looking at them and posting them for a long time. They were pretty much the same every month, so it stopped being newsworthy. I logged in to the server and checked. Yup, still about the same as before. We have around 700 per day visit the site. We only have a few active, posting people at any given time, so the lurker ratio is VERY high. That has stayed the same over time, and I think our site works good that way. I think we continue to provide very high-quality and on-target content in support of our site mission.
Thank you everyone! Thank you for continuing to be a part of what we do here. It is important. We play a valuable role in the online community that no other site really manages to accomplish IMO. We keep very positive, upbeat and supportive. It’s a difficult balance to maintain. Everyone here makes that happen.
I attached a PDF copy of the summary report from Webalizer for the past 12 months.

GuestThanks, Brian. That’s exactly how I feel about what we do – that we are helping a few who comment regularly but that we probably never will know how much we are helping many more. January 9, 2012 at 6:34 pm #249061Anonymous
GuestA good number of people who register mention in their “justification text” that they have lurked for a long period of time, and benefited from just reading and knowing there are other people out there trying to make it work. Something seems to come up in their life, and it brings them out from the shadows into the camp fire light. January 9, 2012 at 8:26 pm #249062Anonymous
GuestI really appreciate the update, it is good to know. January 10, 2012 at 12:35 am #249064Anonymous
GuestI’m sure that Lurkers are a big part of our traffic, but since they don’t comment, it seems really hard to understand how much of an impact we have on them. January 10, 2012 at 1:28 am #249063Anonymous
GuestWe get private messages occasionally from lurkers (and I’ve even had a couple of people track me down through the e-mail address listed on my personal blog), and they are wonderful to read. I’m sure Brian and I get the most, given our visibility.

GuestI wonder what the monthly stats look like Jan Feb and March. Do you have those to share, Brian? It seems the past week or so posting is slowing down.

GuestI do know that we are making a big difference to lurkers. I think we are viewed as a much more positive yet equally accepting alternative to NOM – a NOM for those who want to stay (whereas NOM is mostly people on their way out). There’s enough awareness of our existence that I think we get the right kind of traffic. March 15, 2012 at 6:23 am #249067Anonymous
GuestThanks for the update! I too sometimes feel we are reaching further than we ever imagined. I get “LDS Living” email notices – a faithful reference to news and popular articles – some of them are quite surprising and often sound “tent broadening” to me. GuestSite traffic seems to be staying consistent around 600 to 700 visits a day on average. I’m attaching the basic summary report from Webalizer for the past year as a PDF. March 15, 2012 at 3:31 pm #249069Anonymous
