Dug out this classic from the eighties in my CD collection. One of my favorite tunes as far as synth rock goes. Slightly creepy video, but intriguing lyrics. Is it pro- or anti- religion or is it about Faustian corruption?

I had one or two Ultravox cassettes in my collection. Interesting song… I like popular songs with some deeper meaning. To answer your question, I think they’re limiting faith to what is seen.
“’till thy kingdom come…Faithless in faith.We must behold the things we see.”
Although I believe there is more to truth than just what is observable, I like how “see” is in the present tense.
“I AM that I AM” is not “I was” or “I will be”… it’s NOW. You can only experience anything, including God, in the present now.

“And when he (Jesus) was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of god cometh not with observation; Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold the kingdom of god is within you.”-Luke 17:20-21 Actually it’s very interesting, he sings “Give us this day… until myKingdom comes”. My interpretation of this is that it’s speaking of people’s selfish motives rather than trying to bow to God’s wishes. Quote:To answer your question, I think they’re limiting faith to what is seen.

Some parts of the song certainly seem that way, but other parts contradict it in my view.
