GuestSomeone shared this link in a different group, and I thought I would provide it here. It’s not a full account, by any stretch, and it obviously is from a “faithful” perspective, but I like that there now is an official Church video that talks openly about there being multiple accounts of the First Vision. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OW0f971qJLQ It’s certainly a step in the right direction, and it’s not a tiny step, imo.

GuestThanks, Ray! That’s pretty well done. See…that’s all they have to do, just get the info to members from the source (the Church) and people will be “OK, that’s fine” and then don’t have to be surprised with these things from alternate sources.
It makes it no big deal.
Perhaps they are learning??

yes, i believe the are, but there is a long way to go, and the corner they have painted themselves into with prophetic infallibility, scriptural literalism, and current policies toward gays and women is going to be very hard to break out of.The FV account differences never have been an issue for me. i don’t see the big deal in these differences in memory/retelling of an event that happened in JS’s “mind and heart”. of course, the TB testimony that these things happened literally and physically as stated is not that the FV happened only in his mind. likewise, to say that the BoM is anything other than an authentic historical account would shake too many people.
so, i am good with baby steps. we are all on a journey, as is the church…

GuestI don’t know, observant. It did the same to me just now. I’ll do some research and see if I screwed up the link. -
