I’m a great fan of Blake… but I was reading a book on him the other night and came across this plate in it. It really moved me. The reason for that is the idea that Job, despite suffering so much, prayed for his friends, and proved himself to be a true friend himself. The role of Satan in it is very curious too, he’s almost like an employee of God, not his rival. But its core message is about how bad things happen to good people.
