GuestAt By Common Consent, Kristine linked to the following Mothers’ Day talk: https://www.dialoguejournal.com/wp-content/uploads/sbi/articles/Dialogue_V45N01_50.pdf I was blown away by the way he framed his talk and the lessons he taught.
If you want to read the comments on Kristine’s post, the link is:

GuestWhy did he do it this week? Isn’t Mother’s Day on the 13th? May 10, 2012 at 1:09 am #252340Anonymous
GuestIt was given last year – and posted by Kristine this year as a lead-up to Mother’s Day and those dreaded talks. May 10, 2012 at 2:58 am #252341Anonymous

GuestLoved it. Though I believe that if I were to give this talk in my own ward, the congregation would find it “stunning” in the other sense of the word. “I’m stunned! with a vague notion that I should be offended, but I’m not quite sure how. Maybe it was the subtle questioning of gender roles, maybe it was the implication that patriotic capitalists have trouble understanding Jesus’ message, maybe it is the “there is love enough for all and that means we all get the same amount” garbage. (I mean – what’s the point of going to the celestial kingdom if there aren’t boatloads of ministering angels there to do your bidding?)
But most of all I think I’m offended that Mother’s day is supposed to be about comfort, and tradition, and gratitude and yet here I sit in my stunned state trying to figure out what the heck I just heard.”
:wtf: 😯

GuestThat was such an interesting talk, that made you think outside the box. I love non black and white, right and wrong thinking of the ‘rules’ to living the great commandment and the principles of “Love.” Thanks for sharing this. -
