GuestStephen Marsh has suffered some things that are unspeakable to me. In the following post, when he mentions briefly having suffered, please understand he’s talking about things that might break me emotionally. With that introduction, I am linking to an amazing post he wrote almost exactly a year ago that is SO applicable to everyone here.
Please read it and excerpt quotes to discuss here, if you’d like:
“Trusting God in Spite of Confusion”( )http://www.wheatandtares.org/2011/07/07/trusting-god-in-spite-of-confusion/ July 5, 2012 at 10:10 pm #254927Anonymous
GuestYes, Ray…this is a great post by Stephen. My response in that thread was:
Quote:I think the blind spots come and go over time, and change. It keeps us uncomfortable, and always in need of searching. I am surprised that the older I get, the more confused I get about specific details or teachings, and the more trust I build in God that it will all be OK.
I like the ideas that we all have blind spots, and cannot see our own lack of vision.
But I’m not sure I understand his closing remarks:
Quote:God knows we will be confused and unable to see. He has done what can be done to warn us and given us a solution, even if there is no way to avoid the problem. All that remains for us is to have the context, the faith, the hope and the love to hold on to the word of God.
It seems after making some really good points about context and the need for our experience to really understand things, “
all that remains” part at the end is too simplistic that the meaning escapes me. We can’t see, so we should just obey? Is that the point he’s making?
Perhaps I’m revealing my blind spot.

GuestKnowing Stephen a little, I think he would say all that remains is to “hold on to the word of God” – however you understand that phrase. Knowing Stephen a little, I know he would not say all that remains is to “obey” anything else.
