GuestFor me, there is value in the process of regularly sitting down and assessing your spirituality. In the LDS church, sacrament and TR interviews can be an impetus to do so. I think that it would be really useful to me at this point of my spiritual development to come up with my own criteria and categories so I can assess this. (I find lists very useful)
So far I have thought of.
- How do I treat people? a. my husband b. my children c. the rest of my family d. friends e. people who I lead or teach f. acquaintances g. strangers h. people I don’t like
Am I contributing positively to the world? How can I minimize the harm I do to the world?
What is my understanding of God?
How does my understanding of God enlighten my actions and decisions?
How do I react when I have done something wrong?
How do I determine what things are right and wrong?
I’m pretty new at this, so I would appreciate your thoughts and anything you would add to the list.

Guestnew to this? In a moment, you’ve comprehended the great questions. New or old, we only have this moment. You’re doin’ just fine. Keep going on this — let’s see what comes out of it.

GuestAt the most basic level, “repentance” means nothing more than “change” from what you believe you shouldn’t be to what you believe you should be – and what you described is a process of self-reflection that assesses whether or not you believe you are doing the things you believe are the most fundamental things you should be doing. That’s the pure Gospel of Jesus Christ in a very real way (when you add allowing and helping others to do the same thing), and I appreciate you sharing it.

GuestFor me, these are the deep questions I have to address before I go into an TR interview. Or, ever when I take the sacrament on Sunday.
