For the present, I am taking a breather. I had a frank discussion with DW after GC, and we agreed to a compromise of sorts. My intention had been to let my TR lapse but to still try to be supportive in any way I could while maintaining a semblance of integrity. For various reasons that was unacceptable, so the new deal is that I get to be an acknowledged renegade at home, and in return I will outwardly toe the line. While this is not what I would choose for myself, I am more than happy to do this for DW. All I really wanted was to be genuine with her anyway … I couldn’t really care less about what anyone else thinks. It’s sad to think that my religion places me in a position where my personal integrity comes with an on/off switch, but others have navigated that path, and I suppose I can, too. Anyway, and somewhat ironically, part of the deal is that I stop participating on StayLDS for the foreseeable future, and with the exception of this post, I intend to comply with that request. Before leaving, I just wanted to say thanks, and to wish all of you the very best in navigating your own path, wherever it might lead. I will forever be grateful for this website, for those who started and maintain it, and for all of those who have provided advice, a listening ear, and occasionally a little well-deserved remonstration. I truly believe that I have you to thank for my sanity … or what little I have left of it. I could never have really come to understand who or where I am without attempting to articulate it here … and who else would have listened?

Thanks, doug. Our ultimate goal is to be unnecessary – realistically, for individuals who come here to be able to leave and live without us, and, unrealistically for now, for anyone eventually. If your time here ends up being vital to your happiness not being here, we will have succeeded – and we will be happy.
We will miss you, as well – but I am glad you have a chance now to take whatever you gained here and, hopefully, find a way to be a new light to others “in real life” who need it outside this forum.

Almost said goodbye again this month.
SD had his account removed. I have nothing positive to say…and post seldem…even signed up at MDB and RFM. There is some bad chi right now…and staylds is not immune.
I’ve been talking with with SD about a post staylds group for the mean time. If you you or others are interested in what he’s planning or considering…give me a PM…I know your name was specifically mentioned in our conversation.

Doug, thank you for your insightful thoughts and your words of support and care. Good luck in you future and please know that your efforts here have been very helpful and have made a difference. It’s just nice know we are not alone and remember that you are not either. I hope in the future went and if things are right we will hear more from you. Well, Doug, I wish you luck.
