I just saved a long draft of something I was writing, before the website ate it, and it dumped me back to the main topic. Um, where do drafts go and how do I continue editing it?

I’m not aware of any place where “drafts” are stored. I think they are lost if the system times out.

Brian, you know more about this stuff than I do. Any input?

While I do not know anything about “drafts” I do make it a habit to “copy, paste” my posts to word before I hit submit. The system times out on my most of the time – but I am also a slow typer.

In many occasions this phenomenon can be avoided by checking the “autologin/keep me logged in” block at the login screen.

BTW I figured it out. When the text box comes up for the reply, there’s a button next to “Preview” “Submit” etc labelled “load draft”. That’s how you retrieve them.

Sorry I am late responding. What Bob said above.

    1. From pretty much all screens in the forum software: go to top of screen and click “User Control Panel”

    2. On the left, click “Manage Drafts”

    3. Find your draft on the list. In the middle, there’s a link to “Load Draft”

    4. You can finish editing it, then hit “Submit” like normal to post it.

Along with this same idea, it is a VERY good idea to write long posts in a word processing application first and then past to a post, or to save it as a draft occasionally.

The server will time out your connection after a period of time without interaction. You can lose your post this way. I’ve been caught by it occasionally too. It happens most often when you are editing a post and get interrupted or have to step away from the computer for a while.
