GuestInteresting bit this. Until I read this I totally had missed the fact that the church seemed to have ignored the latest states welections for legalizing gay marriage. I remember arguing with my wife how counterproductive prop 8 was going to be and that it would just give teh church a black eye to be pushing it so much….looks like maybe they learned a bit. http://www.standard.net/stories/2012/11/27/gay-utah-democratic-chairman-seeks-mormon-support ” class=”bbcode_url”> http://www.standard.net/stories/2012/11/27/gay-utah-democratic-chairman-seeks-mormon-support December 4, 2012 at 12:18 am #262058Anonymous

Thanks for posting this John. I too am hopeful for its portent. However, I also noticed that the church seemed to be gun-shy about a number of things during this recent “Mormon moment” so we will see if it holds. I generally think that the church evolves roughly a generation behind American culture at large. As the amount of members that believe a certain way reaches a critical mass – then things that no longer fit with our modern viewpoints start to move quietly into the background where they collect dust.

GuestOn a similar note, I found this in my Google+ feed morning. There is definitely a change in attitude towards gays in the church. Unfortunately the church is still a little stand offish in it’s tone, but at least this article didn’t use the “We love you but we hate the sin” line which is such an unfortunate way of phrasing things.this article -
