I am so excited to have listened to this podcast yesterday and share today. It was such a great feeling that they discussed how one day the church is going to let it all out, the skeletons in the closet are coming out. Bro. McConkie thinks maybe down the road 5 yrs. but the other guy, a bishop I believe, mentioned it should be now, right now. James McConkie mentioned that he had told his very well read son to go ahead and read every anti thing on the church and they would discuss it and this helped his son keep his testimony firm. The bishop (?) said he kept it hidden and turns out his son has become an athiest. So the moral of the story here is to let it be open, and until our testimony is in crisis maybe we won’t even know if it’s a true testimony. I feel this is me. I’m still holding out faith in something to our religion being true. I just hope they do this soon, through CES and correlation. There needs to be a place for this, it seems like there are too many that aren’t aware and they somehow might not know of what their fellow mormons are going through. This church needs to be an open book right now. Because right now it’s like a family full of secrets and is very disfunctional. James mentioned that he thought that even the church leaders aren’t aware of some things including some CES employees, this is shocking to me. But I spent over 45 years with my blinders on. I guess if you’re not seeking the info, you don’t know too much. Until many things creep up onto the shelf and it breaks. I probably had several moments of doubt that I wasn’t aware of. Some have been very subtle, like the feeling that I couldn’t really relate well to inactive or non mormons, always felt like there was a wall there. Didn’t realize I was judging but now do. Now I see that they had it right the majority of the time the way they related to life better than myself. I was very legalistic without realizing, and didn’t think that I was. Anyway, just wanted to share this podcast, there is so much content that many on here could relate too. And it’s from a believing point of view, so very refreshing that it is being discussed in the open, yes!

    Thanks for sharing this Tacenda.

“True Testimony” – that is an interesting concept, unfortunatley I think that the meaning of these words will differ depending on the individual.

I personally believe that for the church as a whole slow inocculation is the wisest course – in small doses.

I should have included this, a “testimony” based on truth, and nothing but. That’s when the testimony can be real. Or if it’s not meant to be, so be it. Atleast someone can base it on the whole picture and also get the spiritual confirmation. Or not. It sure has made me dig down deep where before I relied on other’s testimony.

Thanks for sharing the podcast Tacenda.

I sometimes wish I didn’t know the full detail. I think many people are able to go through their whole life and not really look down the “rabbit hole” and be entirely unaware of the dark past.

Having read about it, there’s enough now to make me let go of a belief in D&C 1:30 as being a literal, global statement. I am happy to believe the church is ‘a vehicle’ to travel the path of the Gospel taking us towards God. But not the only one, nor possibly not the best.

Re. faith crisis issues, he says that we’re in a rather painful transition and will have to make do with band-aids.

The second half of the interview went on to other subjects and was also very interesting.
