AngryMormon
GuestTo My Fellow StayLDSers, I wanted to sincerely apologize from the bottom of my heart over some of my postings. I feel like they have been negative and not serving much of a productive purpose. It’s safe to say that I have some serious anger issues with my involvement in the Church. I have not been handling my anger appropriately. Sorry for the negativity and anger! Thank you all for your guidance/support.

GuestI don’t think you need to apologize. May 15, 2013 at 5:33 am #269061Anonymous
GuestIsn’t that one of the reasons we post so that we can vent when we need to. I really enjoy your post and have anger feelings myself so I will not be passing any judgement. I like it when we have many voices. May 15, 2013 at 6:05 am #269062Anonymous
GuestThanks for the thought – and for the consideration that went into it, but I don’t think you are out of line. Lots of people vent, especially when they first find us. Hopefully, that need to do nothing but vent diminishes over time – and I hope you can get more official help with your anger issues as you continue to help and get help here.

GuestAngryMormon — Really — no issues at all — please vent as you see fit. It’s part of an important, natural process.
But, of course, beware of the dark side — meaning staying there in the critical, angry mode and allowing it to fester.
There is a funny thing I’ve found in religions around the world. In most, expression of anger is somehow viewed on as being a problem.
– you’re obviously not an enlightened buddhist if you express emotions at all — I have an issue with that — i don’t believe that “not having emotions” is a natural human state.
– if you’re a good mormon or christian, you’re happy all the time — horse manure!
– many more examples
By contrast, lao-tzu and confucius spoke of a balanced centre — the Middle Way — where emotions were not suppressed, but rather, balanced. Once one is balanced, then expressing emotion is not only possible, but indeed, if one is angry, one expresses it. Of course, Confucius would always be polite, but Lao-Tzu’s attitude was to be spontaneous, and if that meant being offensive, so be it. i give Old-Timer headaches by following lao-tzu.
