GuestA few weeks ago, I mentioned I was considering going inactive because of some of the problems I am dealing with. I was released from being a ward missionary, but not being a second counselor to the elders quorum. Having just the calling with elders quorum second counselor is fine. I have no problems with that. Me, the elders quorum president, and the elders first get very well. They are a good group of guys. The mental health facility that I get my anxiety medication from hasn’t been able to set up an appointment with me yet to see a counselor because of them trying to sort through the other patients right now. I at least am seeing a case manager, which is helping me some. My anxiety, OCD, Autism symptoms, and my sex addiction has become much more manageable. Scripture study and prayer isn’t doing it alone. Eating right and meditation are helping me in ways I never thought. (I wonder why so many members aren’t practicing meditation. It doesn’t only have to be practiced by people worshiping Eastern religions). My question is for the people that have had or having a faith crisis is how do still attend church without rocking the boat, without getting members concerned about you preaching false doctrine? I go to a small ward. I realize that every ward has different people with different understandings of Gospel teachings, so in some areas members might be more uptight and intolerant to new ideas or to others different from themselves, while in some areas members are the complete opposite of that. In my ward, members are more tolerant of people different from themselves, but I’m not so sure about new ideas. I mean new ideas in that are different from the church’s traditional understandings of our teachings. After having my faith crisis I feel like revealing everything about how I feel, but I realize that would be too much for too many people. Anyway, sorry to ramble. Anyway, how do you guys deal with being active and not rocking the boat, if that’s even possible? :problem: June 3, 2013 at 3:20 am #269667Anonymous
GuestIloveChrist – Thanks for the update. It wasn’t a ramble, it was a ray of hope. May it continue to grow brighter and stronger in your life. I am happy you love EQ. Man-love is a great thing. June 3, 2013 at 3:34 am #269668Anonymous

GuestI just remember that rocking the boat might cause someone to fall overboard who can’t swim. June 3, 2013 at 4:24 am #269670Anonymous
GuestHaha. Ray, I just meant saying something that will get you accused of teaching false doctrine. Sometimes on my mission I have heard statements from members that have had thinking where did that come from. June 3, 2013 at 4:31 am #269671Anonymous
GuestYeah, which might knock you from the boat and risk drowning. Some things need to be said; some don’t. The trick is learning to recognize the difference – and the tendency is to think more things need to be said than really do.

GuestRay, that is true. I agree with you. I think Bishop, you, and others have said being honest doesn’t always mean being open about everything. -
