This conference was a loaded event. Much of it has been rehashed and will be rehashed over the year. And yes I enjoyed Uchtdorf and Holland. I appreciated the cracks in the door their talks offered, but the talk that inspired my resolve to try and stay was Dallin Oaks talk. I know it’s a stunner, especially for our board. My resolve clarified as I realized I am staying to hold a place for my LGBT friends and family. You can sit with me. No judgement, no explanation, no shame. I also felt compelled to be a voice for what Elder Oaks didn’t say. Though his words had a sting to them, he didn’t say – stone them, reject them, harrass them, spread lies about them. He explained what a Bible based religion falls back to. It wasn’t biblically out of line – though for myself I tend to use Ekezials information about the downfall of Sodom and her seven sisters, than others. In Ekezial – it’s pride and fullness of bread, ignoring the needy and elderly that were on the list of destructive behaviors that costs those cities.

I don’t know that I will be out in the hall carrying banners, but I will be aware and present if the discussion needs clarifying. I will also be defending single sisters, and families with no children. We don’t know everyone story and according to scripture – All are invited to partake of the Lord – Male, Female, Bond, Free and so on. That’s my faith, that’s my religion and I believe it is the religion Joseph was shooting for. If not Joseph, then the Savior himself – who died for all of them, lepers, whores, Samaritans. The works.

I love your presence on this forum. I appreciate your ability to take an annoying bit of grit and turn it into a pearl.

Your stained glass widows post was full of kindness and wisdom. So is this one. I’ll remember both with fondness.

Amazing, mom3. I hope you continue to find joy in the Church. I know I still do, even after my faith reconstruction.

What does the acronym LGBT stand for?

    Please pardon my ignorance.

It just stands for lesbian gay bisexual transgender.

It started out as GBLT, but the jokes derailed that quickly. :silent: ;)

A wonderful, positive perspective. This talk did the opposite for me, but you’ve made me rethink!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE…that may as well been a banner for me. I needed that today! Thanks

I will add to that. My name is Bill Reel. I am in the Sandusky, Ohio Ward. You can sit next to me as well and I will be grateful for your fellowship. If every Ward had at least one person like mom3 who spoke out loud then each ward would have at least one visible safe place.

Bill – You and I should grab the center benches in the center row. All of our friends can sit front and center with us. And if I ever am in Sandusky, Ohio – I will definitely come meet you.

please do. those considered lepers make up a portion of our Sunday attending congregation, they will never have a voice. You could always come to Cedar Point. That goes for anyone else here. If your ever in Sandusky Ohio, come visit.
