This article just came out giving parents help on how to handle it when a child or ward member has doubts. It seemed pretty good to me, particularly considering the source.

Wow, that is great! I can almost feel the winds of change stirring in our chapel.

I shared this on Facebook because I thought it was a good article and it also is pretty safe considering the source.

church 03333 – Yes, I think that’s an important part of the church’s maturation process (meaning the members) – having more links to items like this from LDS based sources.

An excellent article, thank you for sharing. I really like the “Destigmatizing Doubt” section and the “Do’s and Don’ts”. I think every member of the church should read this.

I agree that every member should read it. Unfortunately the number of members who actually get the magazine is relatively low. It’s up to us to share the link!

Yes, I would like every member to read this but I expect there will always be some members that disagree with it.

I have read this article a couple times now and this quote jumps out at me: “Doubt creates space for faith to exist. Faith has no meaning without doubt.” It’s by Fluhman in the 13th paragraph. I think this is exactly what Pres. Uchtdorf was saying when he said we should first doubt or doubts before we doubt our faith.

Huge thanks for this post! Shared with my parents and they are already striking a very different tone (more positive) with my questions and seeking ways. This BYU article did what seemed the impossible!

I am glad this was of value to you. It’s worthwhile if it made a difference for only one person – and it appears that it has!

Great article… thanks for posting it hawkgrrrl!

The Do’s and Don’ts struck me as applicable to people like us every bit as much as to our faithful family members.

I look forward to part II of this BYU Mag article discussing “What to do if/when a loved one’s doubts leads them eventually out of the church”. That is the true test of unconditional love.
