I listened to Grant Palmer’s podcast on the Laws and it just blew my mind. I keep hearing all these excuses for JS, like ‘all the prophets had weaknesses.” and JS admitted he had flaws. BUT, JS broke 6 of the 10 commandments including adultery and murder. Any of us lay people today would be excommunicated for the stuff he did, but not JS and other early leaders.

If you put much stock in anything said or written by Grant Palmer, no wonder you have a problem with Joseph Smith. There is no valid historical argument that exposes Joseph Smith as an adulterer or a murderer. You need to search out carefully both sides of these issues. I have read things that Grant Palmer has publicly stated that had to have been just made up. The guy is completely corrupt.

How long has this DaddyB been on the board? I don’t think this post from him should be allowed as it is attacking Bridget directly. So I moved it here for Mods to discuss.

    Original Thread: http://www.staylds.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=5952&start=10” class=”bbcode_url”>http://www.staylds.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=5952&start=10

Let me know if you think I should move it back.

I’ve been concerned about him from the start. I’m not ready to ask to ban him, since I want us to have more conservative voices, but this post is WAY out of line. You did the right thing, and, as far as I’m concerned, we should delete it entirely.

Ok, Ray. Is it typical practice to PM him and let him know it was moderated and why so he doesn’t think the system messed up and then he post it again or something similar?? Or…does it just go away and we only act if he asks where it went?

I can send a PM if you want. I’ll just leave this thread here and the entire post parked here, in case in the future we need to reference him.

I agree with you that I like to keep different voices on the board, but moderate all equally the same too.

Send him a PM and just tell him that we don’t allow personal attacks or broad, sweeping insults – from anyone regardless of their specific position. Also, tell him that the quote he referenced was addressed already in the original post by an admin (me), so there is no need to readdress it in a separate post.

    His response:

    Quote:

I guess I thought the rule for personal attacks was limited to those posting on that thread. Is Grant Palmer a participant on this forum? If not, what is the difference between the personal attack I made and the much more serious personal attack on Joseph Smith in the post you allowed? I agree that perhaps comments should not be allowed that attack a person’s character without specific examples, but why make it okay to say anything at all about dead people who cannot defend themselves and only restrict such things about living persons?

I just responded with references to the Rules and Polices, and explained his attacks were to other members of the group and that Ray had already moderated BN’s sweeping judgments.
