GuestIf you’re of a certain age, you’ll remember many of Mr Larson’s productions fondly. He was also a member of the church, which is at its most obvious when you look at some of his Battlestar Galactica stuff. To give you an idea of his influence on 70s and 80s TV, here’s some of the shows he was involved in:
Quincy, Battlestar Galactica, The Fall Guy, Magnum, Knight Rider, The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries, Alias Smith and Jones, McCloud, Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, The Virginian, Six Million Dollar Man, Manimal…

GuestOh yeah, I remember him, I also remember endless discussions about Battle Star Galactica and it’s Council of the Twelve. It’s been a while since he did anything big, but he was among the many active, prominent Mormons that participated in the Hollywood Kingdom. Just thinking about all of them makes me sad for the type of church we used to be.

GuestTo be fair, a lot of Larson’s productions are still shown internationally in English speaking countries, and most are remembered fondly. Battlestar Galactica, Knight Rider and Six Million Dollar Man all had notable reboots, with the first one being the most successful (it’s actually an improvement on the original series, which truth be told was not Larson’s best)

GuestI remember Knight Rider and Cylons had the same eerie eye that went back and forth. The nostalgia of those shows is greater than the actual quality of the shows…but I loved ’em.

Trivia point – I was talking to a friend recently who’s been watching the old A Team series (he broke his leg!!!), and pointed out to him that in the A Team opening sequence, you can briefly see “Face” looking quizzically at a Cylon! (The same actor was in Battlestar Galactica)

You’re talking my shows.

Someone clued me in several years ago that the guy that did the show was a member and suddenly a lot of stuff made sense. The council of the 12, the lost tribe (us), Kobol, Adama, Lucifer, Muffit. It all added up.
