I am in a rotten mood in churchville today, but I am choosing to put that on a back burner and may today worthy.

Today in the United States its is Martin Luther King Remembrance Day. The Martin Luther King association, our Presidents, and our Savior all advocated for service to our fellow men. I am jumping in with both feet, heart and action. I invite you to do the same. If you are looking for an idea you can copy ours, we are putting kits together for the homeless. Our local Catholic Parish has an over night winter arrangement, but are in need of life supplies to hand out to the homeless. These kits are a towel, bathing supplies including razors, soap, toothpaste, toothbrush and cover, deodarant, comb/brush. You can add to the kits with bus passes, hot chocolate mix, hand warmers anything you want. You can one kit or many small ones.

    Go ahead. Make someones day

Thanks for sharing this. For FHE this evening we watched the I Have A Dream Speech. I have read a lot on the civil rights movement, I was fascinated by it growing up and MLK has always been a hero of mine.

Martin Luther King, Jr. is a great example of someone with obvious flaws who was a prophet in every sense of the word. Thanks for sharing this post, mom3.

Yesterday DW and I watched a movie about Franklin D. Roosevelt and his relationship with his mistress Daisy. As the movie went on and FDR proceeded to break even his mistress’ heart by further cheating, DW became angrier and angrier. How can we honor this man when his character was so flawed? I tried to explain about “The New Deal” work program, the “Day of Infamy” speech, and how he led our nation through the war. I brought up MLK and how he seemed to be flawed in just this same way and yet is rightfully honored. I think the logic of my argument was persuasive, but DW’s heart is still angry.

For her it just seems wrong to praise a man who cannot be trusted with a woman’s heart.

Roy – I will pray for your wife. I can’t imagine Joseph Smiths polygamy being easy for her. FDR is a person I use for my emotional healing when some of our history becomes it’s ugliest.

I really miss the previous black and white life I used to know.

The more “real” history (unlike the stuff I got in high school) this seems to be almost common. MLK, JFK, George Washington, Eisenhower, Tiger Woods (he he he). Most guys just can’t handle the fame and the attention from women that comes with it. I guess I was “blessed” not to have much “attention from women” :-)
