I have not read the book, but I did watch the show on National Geographic. It certainly won’t become an “Easter Classic” for me. Actually I may not ever watch it again, even though there were things I liked. I liked how it gave a more human depiction of Jesus and how he stopped to think (at some times with a “deer in the headlights” look) when asked some of the more difficult questions. I didn’t like how it left out some big details – like the prayer itself in Gethsemane (it went directly from “Father if thou wilt” to betrayal as if there were no prayer), and how the order of some things was slightly changed although it didn’t really hurt the story. I think part of the aim was to show the political goings on that were occurring in the day and were part of the story, yet much of this was dramatized and we don’t really know that some of those conversations took place.

    Anyone else have any thoughts?

I didn’t watch it. I’ve never watched the Passion either. But I’m interested to hear what people think of this TV show as I saw it advertised.

Sounds like you thought it was worthwhile, DJ?
