It’ll be interesting to see how popular these images become. So many of them look alike, but Helen Mar Kimball with the tears down her face is memorable.
She calls “these women the heart and soul of Mormonism,” and I don’t think I’d put it that way. But they definitely HAD hearts and souls and I applaud any effort to portray them as individuals.
When I first got ahold of In Sacred Loneliness, I rifled through it for the money passages that detailed who, what, where, when the women’s lives intersected with Joseph Smith’s. That was me missing one of Compton’s main points – that their marriages didn’t completely define them.
