Other than three new apostles and the hope that at least one of them is not American, is there anything else you are hoping for this weekend? Any expectations?

Personally I think just having three new apostles (if that does happen) is plenty of upheaval and the leadership may just want to let it go at that. However, they’ve also had an opportunity with at least two fewer conservatives and a smaller body overall to perhaps push through a more progressive change or two. Other than changing temple marriage to being married civilly first then (fairly) immediately going to the temple (like in other places) I don’t know what else that might change.

I hope I can make it through without getting upset. I am no being snarky. I would like to see the change with civil then temple as an option. I come from convert parents and it hurt ME to have to have them all not be at my wedding. It certainly hurt the church’s reputation in their eyes. I only have one cousin that I can talk candidly with and he confided there was talk about how stuck-up and better than thou the Mormons are.

These days I try not to expect things. If I expect things I usually come away from the experience feeling dejected.

    1) A call to heal the divide that we tend to place between “believing” members and “doubting” members, especially within the family. Unfortunately in the past I’ve heard some things during conference that increase the us vs. them divide. I’d like for conference to be about “us.” Members/non-members, believers/doubters, heterosexuals/homosexuals, and everything in between.

    2) No talk of being persecuted. None. We can still reach out to the world with love without taking the opportunity to point out how we’re being treated.

My hope is that there is a session similar to the April 2015 Sunday Morning session when several excellent talks were shared. I don’t expect any significant policy changes.

I’m hoping for some good nap time on the couch, and between napping and waking, hoping for some things that I need in my life and what I need to have in my home.

I’m not sure what those are. I’m not sure what specifically I need.

I’m open to hearing something call out to me. Perhaps something around revelation and how we develop it, or compassion and how we develop it.

    I’m with Roadrunner…I don’t expect policy changes.

I would love to hear someone talk about unconditional love and acceptance .. And not ruin the talk by adding a judgmental paragraph at the end.

Someone speaking on personal doubts of the gospel and FC without making it be about poor life choices and lack of scripture reading.

A conference talk about a significant life loss that doesn’t have a happy ending and didn’t lead to any magical conversions.

A talk about education that discusses the need for women to pursue significant education towards professions.

A talk about an LDS sister who dated outside the church, married someone wonderful, had children, and they all lived happily-ever-after as a part member family.
