    Quote:

We do not draw people to Christ by loudly discrediting what they believe, by telling them how wrong they are and how right we are, but by showing them a light that is so lovely that they want with all their hearts to know the source of it.

    – Madeleine L’Engle

I put this in the Useful Quote of the Day thread, but it warrants its own post – especially for we who feel marginalized in some way.

To be truly happy and at peace, I believe we must find our own faith construction that allows us to be a light to others – not defined by others with regard to what we don’t believe but defined by ourselves by what we do believe. Only when we shine on our own can we hope for understanding, at least, and acceptance, at best. Agreement might or might not happen, but respect and love can occur even when disagreement exists – and we have to be the models of what we desire from others.

Thanks for sharing, Ray. I couldn’t agree more.

Yep — and judgmentalism is not a welcome component of being a light.

It’s nice to get to the no fear place, because then you are happy, and it shows. People who are positive and at obvious ease with their beliefs do make me curious.

I still have my Merrie Miss A. of F. banner with embroidered, “I Will Radiate the Light of the Gospel” on it. The older I get and the more conflicted about the church, the more I rely on it.
