GuestFour new account requests came in, all with the same justification text and IP address. I approved the first request that was made and deleted the three duplicate accounts. July 15, 2016 at 3:40 am #313220Anonymous
GuestPerfect. Sometimes, new posters get antsy when they don’t get approved immediately.

GuestThere have been a few requests recently that have had sparse justification text and an email address in the “dispostable.com” (or disposable.com) domain. hannamarin for instance.
In the past I’ve deleted the user/request.
It looks like dispostable is a place people get temporary email addresses that expire. Maybe the requests are legit, maybe it’s people trying to gain access by getting around the registration protection via a temporary email account.
Thoughts? Could emails in certain domains be auto-rejected at the time the account request is submitted?

GuestTo me the justification is the most important thing when considering account requests. I think it’s clear what is being requested when the individual does it and it automatically weeds out the bots – unless bot programmers are now programming bots to recognize and supply a justification (such as “I’m a cheerful person”) that would work on many social sites. Anyway, I would not be opposed to a feature that auto-rejects suspect domains. August 8, 2016 at 12:01 am #313223Anonymous
GuestI am opposed to email addresses from somewhere that supplies temporary addresses. That opens the door too wide for my comfort. However, I a,so agree that the justification text should be the deciding factor. I tend to delete requests that appear to be unresponsive to the prompt without hesitation. I think the ones where there is a question can be discussed here – but I trust people’s judgments on this.
