    Quote:

If I can’t explain the other’s reason(s) for taking their position and why I don’t accept it, I’m not disagreeing with them.

I’m just saying they are wrong. – Dale Wight (a friend of mine)

I think it is important to understand this distinction, especially if we want to avoid doing to others what we hate when done to us.

Another way to look at it is the following:

    Quote:

If I don’t understand someone’s belief well enough to articulate it accurately to someone else, I can’t disagree with it. I only can assert that the person is wrong.

I use the phrase “We disagree on it” or “I guess we’ll just have to agree to disagree. It doesn’t mean we can’t be friends” (or like each other, if the person is close enough).

One older person said to me “That’s where you and I are different, I think this and you think this…”.

Acknowledging disagreement while still affirming the relationship is a soft landing to a disagreeing situation.

Better yet, just keep your opinions to yourself and let everyone just suffer in the wrongitudeness.. 😆 😆 😆
