GuestThis was interesting. I’m seeing more attempts like this to understand, accept & help members through a Faith Crisis.
If these attempts were made when I was going through my FC, I’m not sure if they would of helped. Or, made me more angry.
There isn’t a universal reaction by the church membership for people who go through a FC.
At the time of mine, it felt like I had a disease & everyone should avoid me or risk catching it themselves.
Since then, I feel it was my problem to deal with, fix it or do something else.
For what it’s worth.

GuestI reallylike the article. I wonder what kind of circulation ldsliving gets? Minyan Man wrote:There isn’t a universal reaction by the church membership for people who go through a FC.
Maybe that’s a good thing.
With guys like Patrick appearing in more corners of the vineyard I feel like I can finally step away from the church. It’s in good hands.

GuestI do like Patrick. I really like the exchange he is having with John Delhin and I am eager for the next exchanges. I find them very interesting. This is great to be in some non church publication, but this needs to get into the Ensign if not in general conference (in lieu of “where will you go?”)

It is good, but I wonder if it is because. Just a few weeks ago I overheard a member of the bishopric mentioning that someone (unnamed) in the ward that was “rock solid” their entire life just a few months ago can’t say that their is a God now. (I do need to figure out who that is and see if I can help them in any way).Minyan Man wrote:If these attempts were made when I was going through my FC, I’m not sure if they would of helped. They might have helped just a bit, but I can’t see it changing how things progressed.October 12, 2016 at 6:26 pm #315276Anonymous
GuestI really liked this article. It was wonderful. Though, I did chuckle a bit at the part where it said Job’s friends sat with him and didn’t say anything. That was definitely not the case with at least some of his friends. Some of his friends were absolutely horrible to him

I have read that many bible scholars think that there are 3 authors to what we have today as the book of Job and the middle section was added by the more hardnosed group that were pushing some point. I think at first his friends just sat with him (mourning with those that mourn). After that the TBM’s came in and started trying to fix his issues by pointing out where he had to have screwed up to have such bad luck.October 12, 2016 at 8:21 pm #315277Anonymous
GuestI love that the phrase and words are coming up in conversation. It was used in Conference, now in largely read magazine. It’s not all going to come out smoothly but the use of it will help create the room for the conversations that need to happen. -
