GuestI am on one other discussion forum for an unrelated topic….I just wanted to share some features that I think are very useful and cool…I was a casual user for years, but in the last three years, I’ve become a pretty heavy user, partly due to the features below. They have an alert system. Whenever I log on, it tells me a) who liked a post I made b) who is following me and c) who quoted me, and d) who mentioned me in a thread.
I find this really increases engagement because you don’t have to remember where you posted, and then look through it to see if there were any interesting responses…naturally, people will go to threads where something they said was quoted right away….
They have a multi-quote system. In this system, you can quote multiple threads, and then paste it all into your response in one click.
This is not to be criticizing StayLDS, I like this discussion forum too — it has a lot of good features, but I wanted to share these features as ones that I think keep people coming back again and again…
Any features you really like in other forums?

GuestI have loaded “Tapatalk” application on to my phone and can view stayLDS and two other forums that use phpBB. It has some of these features you mentioned (telling you who quoted you). I feel compelled to comment on one feature of the web site that I didn’t get until after a month or so and I was so glad. When on a page up at the top go to “board index” and then “view unread posts”. You get a list of threads that have new comments that you have not read. Then just to the left of the thread there is a small orange box. If you click on that it takes you right to the first unread comment on that thread. I am sure many of you use that all of the time, but I wanted to mention it in case some are not aware.
I would comment that one negative item on phpBB is that it is more of a stream of conscious discussion. There is no “like” button that could raise certain really good threads for someone just coming to this site.

That might be good for me. It’s embarrassing to ask, but could someone explain again how to do this here?November 27, 2016 at 12:34 am #315884Anonymous
GuestI don’t think you can. You can press the quote button at the top of a thread you want to quote, and then that will go into a new thread, but you have to do that for every post you want to quote. As far as I know… -
