If you want to get to the guts of ideas on how to overcome it through natural living go to this part of the talk, advanced to the key ideas. He runs out of time to cover it all in detail, but 30 or 40 seconds starting at this point gives you the slide with the key antidotes to this phenomenon.

You have to watch the slide behind the guy to get the 6 ways to fight depression. He’s a good speaker, but he skips over some of the points due to short time to present. Here are the six things:

    Good Sleep

    Exercise

Omega 3, 6 Fatty acids in the right ratio

    Social Connections

    Sunlight

    Anti Ruminative Therapy

Apparently, aboriginal people don’t have nearly the depression rates that Westerners in civilization do. And its because their lifestyle promotes most of these factors that fight depression. And this is in spite of high infant mortality rates, a hard physical life (which actually fights depression), etceera.

Take a gander — a very powerful talk, as I’ve been immersing myself in happiness studies.

Some good practical advice there – I take multivitamins to help combat it. A UV lamp is good in northern climes.

Social connection is a must – but with depression the temptation is to go the other way.
