    Starting the thread.

Thanks for starting the thread. Pres. Monson in attendance. Jesus Once of Humble Birth is one of my favorites. (I’d like it played a bit faster and with a bit more power, though. It seems all the songs today have been slower than I like.)

Pres. Monson talking about his favorite topic: charity/love. That simple message is why I like him.

    Weak voice, captioning on.

Wow. Pres Monson speaking first. I thought he might be too ill or weak to speak at all. I’m always happy with a message on charity.

Was a good way to start the session.

I love that man. It makes me wonder how many more times we will get to hear him speak. Will place

Bednar talking about mission calls. He says missionaries are called to the work, not the place and that explains why changes are made sometimes. He says there seems to be a misunderstanding about this in the church. He goes on to talk about being worthy, etc.

(On the other hand, we often hear that we are meant to be where we are assigned, and they seem to make a big deal of the assigning process. Just saying.)

Boring, not very relevant to most of us.

Maybe I got assigned to the wrong church? JK.

Yeah I’m resistant to the idea that missionaries are assigned to each specific place by prophecy and revelation.

This talk is heartfelt but doesn’t resonate with me.

Since he doesn’t often strike me as empathetic, I just liked hearing him speak to pain and misunderstanding he observed around him.

I like Bishop Causse, but this one is also not a keeper. He talked about strengthening the Aaronic priesthood. Uchtdorf and Eyring follow the singing.

It took him a bit to get around to it, but Uchtdorf talks about leadership being more about being humble and serving than being honored. He repeated the “don’t inhale” story and the “rule number 6” (don’t take yourself too seriously) story.

    Eyring

That was an overly mystical description of the priesthood.

Call me a cynic, but Eyering’s emotional quivering voice is a bit too much for me. Doesn’t make it more meaningful or inspirational to me – it’s just a distraction.

Trying to look past that distraction, I do like this message of seeing people for their potential. Although for me, that potential might mean a different thing.
