Not sure what section to put this, but I recently came across a resource some of you might find helpful. It’s a non-profit organization about recovering from religion.

It’s a non-profit organization meant to help anyone who is transitioning out of their once held religious beliefs. On their website, it states:

    Quote:

“Some of these folks ended up abandoning their faith, others re-defined it, and some are still in process. Our goal is not to talk anyone into or out of faith, but to provide a safe space to examine what we believe. And perhaps, why we believe it.”

It’s broader than StayLDS, but they do have some excellent resources, including both chat and phone support (I know there have been many times I wish I had someone to talk to). They have vast resources for all sorts of different people in different situations, from all sorts of different perspectives.

Hope someone might find this site as helpful as I do.

Yuck… I’ve seen what a lot of some websites want you to “recover into” and it isn’t pretty and not really recovery.

[Edit to add: This particular website is a bit cagier in how it talks about religion but is still one sided.]

[Admin Note]: I appreciate the thought, dande48 (truly), but this website is not “just” Anti-Mormon; it is all-encompassingly anti-religion. There are, however, posts explicitly about how terrible the LDS Church is and how wonderful it is to leave it.

The resources make it clear that they are focused on helping people leave all organized religion. That is their only sincere objective. Many of the posts are extremist in nature – focusing solely on the worst of religion and the worst stories of what can happen to adherrants. It’s central narrative is “escape” – and other themes are previous bondage and ignorance, coupled with current enlightenment and freedom.

I am removing the link and locking it so the admins and moderators can discuss whether or not to leave it visible in the public forum section. We need to discuss whether or not it is in line with our rules about anti-Mormon sites.
