Watch her. It isn’t just the schizophrenia issue. There is an edge of something in her comments that troubles me.

I had the same feeling. (Or, “I have a bad feeling about this.” :D )

    While we’re there…

I approved rrosskopf but I have some concerns that they may end up trying to challenge people here, maybe over the historicity of the BoM. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and they haven’t posted anything yet.

    Thanks for the notice, nibbler.

I approved rrosskopf’s comments. They are orthodox and might or might not draw responses. I want to try to see if we can handle these types of comments.

I too am feeling a little uneasy with the Lady.

I don’t worry about the farms type guy. At least he was framing his BoM evidence as “a possible location” or “a good candidate for” or “plausible”. I appreciate the willingness for there to be room for other views in those framings.

I appreciate the way you’ve handled rrosskopf. I probably won’t respond much to him, I’ll leave it to those of you who don’t know how to shoot lightning from their finger tips.

    Roy – Well played.

I will be steering clear of rross. It’s safer for all of us.

    Roy he is all yours

Curt you can have LadyOfRadiantJoy – (That name sounds so Camelotish.) (Her hand will rise up out of the lake and snatch the sword from Merlin…never mind.)

Hah, I didn’t mean to claim him! ;)

Just kidding, I do not mind interacting with him. I feel comfortable with that.

In the Theology of Star Wars thread there is a rant about priesthood. I’m actually fine with the rant (or maybe it’s just venting). I don’t inordinately disagree with the post. My question is about it being in the right place. After the quote, it has nothing to do with the theology of Star Wars. A gentle reminder to stay on topic and maybe this would be suited to it’s own thread?

FWIW, Lady’s other response in the same thread right next to the one referenced above makes no sense to me, but many of her posts don’t so I’m OK with it.

She has serious issues. I am taking a bit of a hands-off approach for now to see where it goes and if she continues long-term.

A couple of rrosskopf’s most recent comments pushed my buttons hard. I wrote a personal response to him about his characterization of his wife in one thread, and I wrote an admin note in the Promised Blessings post directed at his comment, as well. I didn’t hold back in either one.

Let me know if I crossed the line with either comment. I don’t want his blaming approach on this site.

PS. I just read and responded to some more of his comments. He is a judgmental, orthodox member whose comments generally don’t fit our mission. I will try to handle him appropriately (to walk the talk with a difficult person), but I have to admit he pushes pretty much all of my buttons.

rrosskopf has been getting a little bolder of late.

Your post ^ summed up my feelings well.

When someone is hurting it’s not super helpful to be told the rough equivalent to, “You shouldn’t feel that way.”

Rross pushes my buttons too, that’s why I’ve been more hands off. Roy directing him to the etiquette thread was good – I still don;t know that he gets it. Of course I don;t know that he read the thread either. He’s the kind of guy that shuts others down in priesthood discussions just because they’re not complete BRM orthodox. Of course in priesthood meeting I have allies and we’re not afraid to fire back and they’ll come back to church anyway. I honestly do appreciate the more orthodox point of view sometimes – I was sincere when I said that in one of the threads because we can be an echo chamber sometimes. On the other hand, judgmental “This is God’s plan, how can you even question it” type statements always push my button. I don’t have a high EQ, I recognize that as a weakness and I do work at it – and I know that I’ve chased off orthodox posters before.

Just as a side note here, Amy did a very similar thing in another thread where she talked about the sister missionary they basically forced into the get up at 6:30 no matter what style while at the same time saying we shouldn’t do stuff like that. I going to point that out, I just need to breathe and choose my words.

Yeah, I haven’t minded up until the more recent posts. I think one was about people that are sexually abused as kids can’t feel the spirit. That’s not going to help. Especially if someone that was sexually abused is reading it.

There are a few characters in my ward that are more vocal than rrosskopf. It’s good practice to learn to zen past things… but this is ultimately a support site, and the more orthodox defenders of the doctrines don’t seem to be well equipped to empathize with any position outside of orthodoxy.

I will admit. Out of all the stops along the Mormon spectrum, that’s the space I have the most trouble projecting into.
