Approval post restriction/group assignment oddity

Just to let others know, in case this comes up or happens again.

We approved the first post for the user Unknownicon. Usually when we approve the first post it removes the restriction to require approval for posting but the system was prompting for approval for their subsequent posts despite their first post being approved.

I believe the process is that once the first post is approved, the user is moved from the ‘newly registered users’ group (the group with the restriction) to the ‘registered users’ group (the group without the restriction). For whatever reason Unknownicon ended up a member of both groups.

Not sure what went wrong but I addressed it by taking them out of the ‘newly registered users’ group manually.

This is more of a post to record what happened in case we see the behavior again. If it happens again I’ll dig deeper.
