GuestI hope everyone had a great New Year. Anywho, I know I’m not too active here, but I feel like this video is more important than ever. This not only applies to teens but even more to adults. I recently got rid of my Facebook but man oh man, there were so many disgusting behaviors I have witnessed from other adults on there. Like on news stories and so on. It just seems people are more divided than ever and on social media, human nature reaches it’s the lowest point. I have also witnessed adults bullying other adults inside the church.
But if you are the bully, take Dieters advice: STOP IT! (I don’t think anyone here is a bully, you’re all good people)
Also, I have learned in my struggles that reaching out to someone who is lonely not only helps them but helps themselves as well. If you have a feeling you should talk to someone who is by themselves, you just never know how much you could have possibly changed their life. It’s the little things.

GuestOf course I’m a huge DFU fan, and I particularly like this talk. I agree with you, it’s not just for kids/teens and probably applies to many adults in the church (including leaders). January 23, 2020 at 4:17 am #338500Anonymous
GuestBullying is “natural” – and it needs to be understood better and addressed more comprehensively. January 23, 2020 at 7:47 pm #338501Anonymous
GuestI watched the video. I plan to share it with my kids as part of our weekly lesson. Thank you! January 25, 2020 at 1:07 am #338502Anonymous

This makes me realize, there needs to be a bit more to utchdorf’s advice.
To those who wish to bully, stop it. To those who witness bullying, love the bully.
No one is born with a desire to murder, steal or hurt. The environment you grow up in, the support or lack thereof, and the people you associate with influence what you do and how you think and feel.
I’m sure many bullies are only out there to feel something, because they didn’t growing up, or felt it themselves from family or “friends”.

Unfortunately, yes it is. A lot of human activity seems to be to do with one’s place within a given social hierarchy and bullying is a means to elevate yourself, and lower another. It is something we see in other animals including chickens, dogs, apes etc, so it is very deep seated.
I agree with the OP that Facebook is an ugly place. I got sick of being sent insensitive, inaccurate and nasty atheist propaganda on a regular basis. Oddly enough the people who sent it were usually accusing religious people of behaving that way.
As for politics on Facebook, I don’t think much if anything has ever come of it.
