GuestA friend of mine told me President Nelson made this comment in the Sunday Morning session of General Conference: Quote:
But, my dear brothers and sisters, so many wonderful things are ahead. In coming days, we will see the greatest manifestations of the Savior’s power thatthe world has ever seen. Between now and the time He returns “with power and great glory,” He will bestow countless privileges, blessings, and miracles upon the faithful. What do you think he meant by this? To me, the great manifestations of power occurred with the parting of the Red Sea, his resurrection and his appearance in the Eastern Hemisphere, and his appearance in the Americas. How might He surpass that?

A. A Ton of Scientific Breakthroughs – Technology in all fields is moving faster and making more powerful smaller things. A lot of breakthroughs are coming in medicine (which is his field, and extending his life on some levels).
B. Wishful Thinking on his part – motivated by a tendency to focus/prepare for the Second Coming.

GuestEmploying non-specific hyperbole to give people some hope. The wider context of the talk is overcoming a world that many people find fearful.

This
 Sometimes church is a room full of parrots and often GAs are the biggest and brightest parrots of them all.

GuestI saw this quoted too. Seems like a pretty big promise. It also fits pretty well into the spirit that Pres. Nelson brings to the table. Remember when he said the following: “If you think the Church is fully restored, you’re just seeing the beginning”
“Wait till next year, and then the next year. Eat your vitamin pills. Get some rest. It’s going to be exciting.”
I assume that the “manifestations” that he is talking about are going to be more of the types of changes that we have seen since RMN became president. Good news to be sure but not exactly earth shattering.

GuestI could make a joke about it, but I do see it as entirely possible – in many ways, depending on how we view the changes that are going to happen in the world. (of God or natural) I do believe my lifetime has seen previously unfathomable advancement in many areas, particularly technology and understanding of the mind. If that pace continues or accelerates, it will be mind-boggling.
I also know the church has been very cautious and intentional with its growth in Africa, due, I am sure, to the previous issues of explosive growth in other places that was unsustainable (and the missionary practices that fueled it). Perhaps they are getting ready for a major expansion in that continent and/or somewhere else.
I also see it as a typical “prophetic” statement.
