I was sort of waiting for Ray to chime in on this but I recognize he’s very busy. I am not a psychologist or therapist but I have had more training and education than the average Joe and I have worked closely with those with mental health issues for a number of years. I am not going to attempt to diagnose KOTM because I am far from qualified to do that and my only interactions are based on what he says here. I can pretty confidently say this based on what he has said: He has an untreated mental illness. I’m not saying we shouldn’t continue to interact with him, he’s here and that’s something for him. However, we’re not going to solve his problems – he needs therapy and probably meds. I got that impression too, which is why I’ve backed off responding. Not that I’m trying to give them the silent treatment to get them to leave, it’s just that I’ve dealt with that kind of drama far too much in my life and I’ve found the best way for me to deal with those types of situations is to avoid them.
Yeah, I understand. We are a support group for staying LDS and KOTM’s issues seem to only tangentially overlap with our mission.
I think he does more or less want to StayLDS and in that respect he belongs here and the same kinds of advice that works for others could work for him. I’m just saying there’s another issue there, and that one we can’t address (and he isn’t addressing it either). And being single and not even dating around Valentine’s Day can be tough besides the regular toughness of being a single member of the church.

We can help, generally, but we can’t give him the depth of what he needs. We can suggest it, but that is up to him.
