Saw this notification but didn’t activate, thought maybe we should discuss first. Justification:

    Quote:

Activation Justification: I have question about UFOs abductions by UFOs and reports from military personnel As a member I am seeking information on how we LDS should respond to the information or to our in person sighting experience with abduction

For the record, I don’t dismiss UFOs/UAPs out of hand and I do believe it is possible there could be life on other planets and not impossible they could travel here (although I think the latter is highly unlikely).

That said, I’m not sure this is really what we’re here for. I’m not sure it fits the mission. But if the consensus is to let them in I’m not totally opposed – maybe there’s something we can learn or benefit from.

I saw that and punted by ignoring it to make it someone else’s problem. :P

I think that’s more a fit for a UFO abduction message board. It’s about UFOs with “LDS” shoehorned in to attempt to make it relevant to the site.

Is how a LDS member responds to a UFO sighting drastically different than any other religion or community?

Well first you tell your bishop, who might ask you to stop taking the sacrament for a week or two…

It’s not really relevant to the site but we could still approve. Their first post would require approval anyway. Then again, approval is one foot in the door.

The vibe I get from it is that they want to talk about UFOs and abductions, and probably their own abduction (or someone very close who they believe). I look at abductions with the same skepticism as near-death experiences, that is “Yeah, it could have happened but I need a lot more convincing than your story.” And in full disclosure I think NDEs are more likely than UFO abductions.

There are “doctrinal” aspects to both discussions. As to visitors from other planets, we do seem to believe there is human life on other planets so why couldn’t they come and visit? Angels travel across time/space don’t they? I do like to dabble a bit in Mormon cosmology (but not cosmetology).

Good call. Not appropriate for us.

I vote not to approve. I’m not sure how UFO abductions relate to a faith crisis or their attempt to stayLDS.
