GuestIn our family, our children (15 and 8, both females) dress up to garment line standards. - This is not a “me” preference – I’m the one with the faith transition and common-sense approach to modesty. I am also tend to lean “body-positive”, so I could care less about shoulders.
- I tend to actually have even more modesty standards/preferences about outdoor gear because of very fair Caucasian skin and sun burns. Also, my baby girl is super sensitive to mosquito bites (so I want her in pants whenever she is outside because we cannot afford a full-fledged enviro-suit).
- I know that our oldest is likely to avoid the temple throughout her lifetime for reasons.
- I think it is unfair to mom and (also female kids) to impose sleeves and long skirts on the kids for play clothes at church (which is what toddler Sunday dress is). In fact, I think that the “cute shorts” part of baby outfits should be part and parcel for the kids up until age 10 for girls. But that may be because none of the women/girls in my family can sit gracefully and people freak out over underwear on display.
I let my husband know today (6 months after the fact) that the garment standards had changed.
He did the research and signed off on “thick sleeveless” stuff for the girls. It was ridiculously easy:)
– I am looking forward to letting my eldest know as it comes up periodically.
– It made potential prom dresses much more viable too:)
NOTE: My eldest isn’t great at moving her body around in a functional, life-giving way to achieve her ends on a regular basis, so dress and movement to attract others is still out of her league (and may not be a thing she wants to do).
– It made looking for Sunday dresses cute enough to charm a grandfather’s heart much easier to locate:)

GuestI’m glad for the change, and glad for the freedoms and opportunities that the change helps provide for individual adaptation. March 25, 2025 at 1:44 pm #345682Anonymous
GuestWhat is this garment update that you’re talking about? Somehow I’ve missed the memo, but I’m excited to hear about it! March 25, 2025 at 3:09 pm #345683Anonymous
GuestIt’s probably in reference to this: viewtopic.php?p=144183viewtopic.php?p=144183” class=”bbcode_url”> March 25, 2025 at 3:42 pm #345684Anonymous
GuestNibbler is correct. A general “garments 2024” search should be a good starting point for what exactly changed.

The new garments are being rolled out to limited areas of the world and the USA is not projected to get them for about a year. Don’t run out to the distribution center just yet until you can confirm that they are available in your area.
