What I can’t figure out is how the “thought experiment” – one I assume we all conduct – produces such differing results. Why do many in the church come out with so little empathy?
They simply can’t understand, since they have no similar comparison in their own lives that makes sense to them and since the issue seems so simple (black-and-white) in the scriptures (of most major religions.
There are MANY on the left side of this issue that don’t understand the right side any better. Not understanding is not an issue with only one side; is it a natural human condition.

What I am about to say is awful, but I feel like only one side of life seems to try the thought experiment in life. Unfortunately the side that doesn’t belongs to my extended family. In their minds everything is a-okay. I get to spend eight days with them starting next week. I dread it.
